...The day turned out to be beyond my expectations. We caught two Mako sharks. Two other sharks took the bait but could not place the hook. The first catch was a 100 pounder that gave an amazing fight. We released the beauty and waited for the next one. Around two o clock the Big One took the bait. The reel started to scream after all birds flew up from the water. At first it felt like a big blue shark but when the beast jumped out of the water we could see what we had hooked. It was really an amazing fish. I also enjoyed that I was able to fight the fish while standing because Larry provided excellent fishing gear which made this possible. After 1.5 hours we landed the fish and the fish was weighed at an estimated 330 pounds in the port.
After this big catch Larry invited me and my girlfriend over to join him, his wife and daughters for a delicious just caught Mako steak at the yacht club. This was really an unforgettable experience. Almost three quarters of a year later I can still remember details and feel the excitement I had back then.
